School shootings, rampant child neglect and abuse, and even the actions of our government—what do all these have in common?  Lawlessness. Are we in the Age of Lawlessness that Jesus spoke of?  If so, how do we navigate these uncertain times, when you can’t count on common decency or even common sense to prevail?  First, let’s define it:

Lawlessness in New Testament is usually the Greek word “anomia” and it means “illegality, violation of law, or generally wickedness”.  It’s sometimes translated “iniquity” as in a transgression of the Law.  Sometimes it’s the word “hamartia” which means sin, but also with the idea of “transgressing the Law”.
